Letter from the President

On behalf of our chapter here at Montana State, welcome to Alpha Omicron Pi’s Alpha Phi Chapter! We are so happy you are here and we cannot wait to show you what our sisterhood is all about. Alpha Phi is home to 94 members who are full of ambition, love, dedication, and passion. Our motto is “Inspire Ambition”, which is a perfect representation of our sisters. From maintaining one of the highest Greek GPAs on campus, to having sisters apart of ROTC, ASMSU (Student Government), Honor’s College, and Voice Center (just to name a few), our sisters truly inspire one another in every endeavor.

Alpha Omicron Pi was founded at Montana State University in 1917, making us the first sorority on campus. Over the past 100 years we have grown in character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty. We are a diverse group of women who come together to support our college, community, and one another.

2018 was a wonderful year full of growth, accomplishments, and celebration. In the spring during the Fraternity and Sorority Life Banquet we had the honor of bringing home the Academic Excellence Award, Recruitment Excellence Award, Philanthropy Award, and one of our own sisters received Member of the Year. To top it off, we received Chapter of the Year for the third year in a row. We ended the semester by raising over $3,000 for the Arthritis Foundation during our first annual Flapjack Fundraiser, where members of the community came and ate unlimited pancakes with us at our house. In the summer we sent three sisters to our national Leadership Institute in Franklin, Tennessee where we were received 8 awards recognizing our achievements. This included Excellence in Community Service, Excellence in Philanthropy, Excellence in Finance, Excellence in Sisterhood, and Outstanding Leaders Council. Along with this, three of our Alpha Phi sisters received the Collegiate Women of Leadership Award, an award given out to only twelve exceptional AOII’s nationally. At the beginning of the Fall during recruitment we gave bids to 28 amazing new members, and all 28 initiated into our sisterhood during the semester. We also hosted our 22nd annual Run for the Roses where we raised another $3,000 to help children with juvenile arthritis. 2018 was truly a rewarding year, and we look forward to what 2019 has to bring.

AOII has done more for me than I can ever put into words. This organization has brought me my closest friends, my college tutors, my adventure buddies, my guidance counselors, and my lifelong sisters. AOII has pushed me to get involved on campus and participate in things I would not normally participate in. Whether it is enjoying the outdoors together, tutoring a fellow sister, or movie nights in the pit, there is always some adventure awaiting. Overall, joining AOII has been the best college decision I have made and I am forever grateful for this organization. I encourage you to explore our website and learn more about our sisterhood. If you are considering going through recruitment, I highly encourage you to give it a try! I know it has changed my life for the better. Thank you for taking time to visit us! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
